Students were able to problem solve with their teammates and use procedures to build a design. The class was excited to have the opportunity to put science and engineering skills to work.”

Through this grant, students were able to use STEM engineering skills to build solar robots. β€œThe hands-on aspect of the robot kit made it more meaningful to my class and they were thrilled to see the robots work when they were fully assembled,” said Herook.

The third grade team was able to provide differentiated content to students using the A-Z Readers. The Readers allowed teachers to introduce science concepts to students at their own reading level.

Herook supports the continued use of the A-Z Readers for the 2015-2016 school year. She also believes that the STEM Solar Robot kits will be integrated into the FOSS Energy Unit for future classes.
